On Sunday 20th December over 100 adults and children dressed up in Santa suits and wore reindeer outfits to take part in the Norwich Santa Run and Reindeer Dash in aid of children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
Chapelfield were one of the key sponsors of the annual fun run event at the Sportspark on the outskirts of Norwich. Children wore antlers, CLIC Sargent t-shirts and had their faces painted to run, skip, dance or walk the two kilometre circuit with mums, dads, aunts, uncles and other family members in their santa costumes.
Annie Thomas from CLIC Sargent said: “There was a fantastic atmosphere with funny elves keeping everyone entertained and a real sense of family fun. Early indications show the event has helped to raise over £8500 for CLIC Sargent with sponsorship money still coming in, which is brilliant. We hope even more people will have a giggle and take part next year.”
CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity offering all-round care and support to the 10 children and young people diagnosed with cancer everyday, and their families.
In addition to the Norwich Santa Run, Chapelfield also supported the CLIC Sargent team with a charity gift wrapping service in the shopping centre on Saturday 19th.
Karen Roberts, Area Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent said: ‘I would like to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the Christmas Wrap on Saturday and especially to the Chapelfield customers who kindly donated in exchange for their gifts being wrapped. One gentleman brought all his Christmas shopping to be wrapped and said what a wonderful service it was as he would much rather donate the money he would have spent on the wrapping paper and gift tags to a worthy cause and we had also saved him from facing a job he hates! On behalf of CLIC Sargent and the families we support I would like to wish all Chapelfield customers and staff a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy 2012.”
