Sustainable Transport
How easy your journey is to Chapelfield is important to us. And as part of one of the UK’s largest companies, we also have a responsibility to manage and minimise our impacts on the environment. This includes travelling to Chapelfield.
We have drawn up a travel plan for Chapelfield and it consists of a package of measures aimed at reducing single occupancy car use among staff, retailers and shoppers, through better provision of public transport. It will also provide information on the various travel options available.
The overall objective of the travel plan is to try to make sure that all users (staff and shoppers) use more sustainable forms of transport, where possible, instead of single occupancy car travel. This will help to minimiseour impact on the environment.
Other objectives of the plan include:
- Making sure that on-site facilities are provided, which encourage sustainable travel.
- Providing travel information to all users of Chapelfield to enable them to make an informed choice of how they travel to the centre.
- Establishing and developing partnerships with the local authority, transport operators, businesses in the Chapelfield area, and others in promoting sustainable travel.
At the same time, the plan also provides:
Increased travel choice - a wider range of travel options, savings and benefits will enhance the recruitment and retention of staff working here as well as providing easier access to Chapelfield for a greater number of visitors.
Health benefits - many alternative forms of travel include an element of exercise that will lead to a healthier workforce, possibly leading to reduced rates of illness and a reduction in health related absences.
